Who We Are

Humanity United Against Trafficking (HUAT) is a registered non-governmental organization in Uganda, committed to ending human trafficking and supporting survivors of exploitation. Founded in 2023, HUAT was born out of the urgent need to respond to the realities faced by vulnerable women, children, and youth in East Africa.

Prevention & Awareness

Human trafficking thrives in silence — and that’s where our work begins. We engage schools, communities, and youth through dialogues, creative outreach, and survivor-led storytelling that expose the tactics traffickers use and how to stay safe. Through radio programs, workshops, and public awareness campaigns, HUAT helps communities recognize warning signs and unite in protecting the vulnerable before exploitation occurs.

Rescue & Protection

Freedom starts with action. HUAT collaborates closely with local security operatives, community leaders, and partner organizations to identify, report, and respond to trafficking cases. Together, we support coordinated rescues and ensure that survivors are received safely, with immediate care, confidentiality, and compassion. Our approach prioritizes protection — every rescue is survivor-centered, guided by respect, safety, and justice.

Survivor Support & Reintegration

Every survivor deserves a safe place to heal and a chance to thrive again. HUAT provides emergency shelter, trauma counseling, medical assistance, and reintegration support for survivors of human trafficking. We help them rebuild through vocational training, small business start-up support, and mentorship that restores independence and confidence. Because healing doesn’t end at rescue — it begins there.

Advocacy & Systems Change

Real change happens when policies protect people. HUAT engages government agencies, faith leaders, and civil society to strengthen anti-trafficking laws, improve response systems, and amplify survivor voices in decision-making spaces. We advocate for child protection, gender equality, and justice because prevention is not just awareness, it’s accountability.

Community Empowerment & Partnerships

We believe lasting change comes from within communities. HUAT works with schools, faith leaders, and local organizations to strengthen community-based protection systems. By equipping people with knowledge and linking them to response networks, we build a movement that prevents trafficking and supports survivors long after rescue.
