Heritage's History

Ssalongo Michael Masembe and his wife Juliet Masembe envisioned a future where children in their community would not have to endure long distances to access quality education. In Kalagala, a vibrant yet underserved area, the absence of a nearby school was a significant challenge for many families. Motivated by their passion for education and a desire to make a difference, the couple embarked on a journey to create a learning institution that would serve the needs of their community.

In 2005, their dream became a reality with the establishment of Kid’s Care Primary School. Starting humbly in a two-room building, the school welcomed its first intake of just eight children during its inaugural term. Despite its modest beginnings, the school was founded on the principles of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to nurturing young minds.

In 2010, the school underwent a significant transformation, rebranding itself as Heritage Nursery and Primary School. Alongside the new name came official recognition through the registration of a UNEB center number, 283652. This milestone cemented the school’s position as a cornerstone of education in the community.

Today, Heritage Nursery and Primary School stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity, providing quality education to over 600 children. The school thrives under the guidance of more than 20 dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff, all committed to fostering academic excellence and holistic development. Through their efforts, the Masembe family has not only fulfilled their dream but also transformed the lives of countless children and families in Kalagala and beyond.

Our children are taught by the Lord, and great is the peace of our children….
